We can accomplish this by shopping for Fair Trade products - environmentally-friendly, handmade, and/or socially-conscious items. These products are often manufactured by impoverished or disadvantaged communities around the world that otherwise might not have the opportunity to earn a living wage or work in humane conditions. Fair Trade-certified organizations ensure that these goods adhere to certain guidelines of social and environmental responsibility in the manufacturing process. And the best part is that the items we purchase through our Fair Trade partners are beautiful! Jewelry, home décor, musical instruments, and even tea & coffee are included.

As our awareness of The 3/50 Project, it becomes a biz-to-biz networking that benefits our community on all levels. Maybe we’ll start a buy-local frenzy that will make Wal-Mart nervous! (Did you know that buying local keeps 68% of your money here in the area, whereas a chain-store purchase keeps only 43% here? (On-line purchases? $0 stays in our St. Pete/Tampa Bay community!)
