Sunday, June1
The music of HERE II HERE features tight vocal harmony, eclectic instruments and a rhythmic
blend of smooth pop, rock, and soul-drenched R&B music.
Their songs
address a sprinkling of the entire spectrum of human emotions. Their
sound has been described as “a trilogy of Afro-Cuban sacred sensuality,
Asian spiritual detachment, and African-American revivalist soul.”
Ashley Ruiz, one of the vocalists and the main songwriter of HERE II
HERE , is a former member of the Latin “boyband” group Menudo. Ruiz and
Alex Perez, also on vocals, are Cuban-Americans. Vocalist/guitarist
Jaime Triana is Colombian. Brothers Edwin Itoh, who plays guitar,
harmonium and bass, and percussionist Kazuhiro Itoh, are
Colombian-Japanese. The East meets West vibe features instrumentation
such as Japanese bamboo flutes and African drums. It’s all blended into
positive pop melodies and inspirational, mystical lyrics.
“Every song is inspired by our love for every living being, our
compassion for every experience and our commitment to being a clear
voice of the universal heart.”
Experience the music of HERE II HERE at the 9 and 11 am Sunday services at First Unity church on June 1. Click here for more information on First Unity.
